The Method Dental Team

Dr. Macey Jones has been with us since the early days of Method Dental, joining us in 2019 as Dr Grant’s dental assistant on Saturdays. During this time, she studied at the University of Queensland and gained incredible insight from Dr Grant to accelerate her learning. Her passion for dentistry started long before this, when she developed an interest in the profession during her own appointments as a child. Growing up in the small town of Maidenwell, QLD, dentistry wasn’t the most obvious choice, but we’re so glad it brought her to us!
Macey received multiple awards during her studies including the Pierre Fauchard Academy Scholarship for her leadership potential, integrity and academic achievements as well as the David Dunlop memorial scholarship and multiple Dean’s commendation of academic excellence. She was invited to be the keynote speaker for the dental school’s 90th anniversary, sharing her unique journey of becoming a dentist.
She has travelled all over Queensland, gaining experience providing dental care in rural settings, before returning to us at Method Dental to begin her career as a dentist under Dr Grant’s mentorship.
Macey, like all of our dentists at Method, shares a passion for giving back, having attended kindy visits with Dr Grant, volunteering her dental skills in Cambodia and helping out those in need in her home town during the holidays.
Dr. Annie Chen is another north Brisbane local, growing up locally and pursuing her dream career as a dentist. Since graduating from Griffith University in 2018, Annie has worked in private and public practices in regional Queensland and Brisbane. She also works as a clinical educator at the university.
Annie provides a positive and comfortable experience at the dentist. With a careful eye for detail, an understanding ear for your concerns, and a gentle nature, Annie is the perfect dentist to put you at ease. Her communication skills ensure smooth appointments where patients have the time and space to clearly understand any treatment needs and to know what will happen during the appointment.
Annie seeks to improve herself in all aspects of clinical practice through continuing education so that she can better serve her patients. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, with a special interest in preventative, restorative and children’s dentistry – like all of our amazing dentists.
When Annie isn’t looking after our patients she enjoys exploring new places and experiences, and spending time with her spoilt Pomeranian and Samoyed, family and friends.

Dr. Rupini Vengadesan hails from New Zealand – but we love her anyway! She graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2011, has a young family and has chosen to settle in sunny Brisbane.
Dr. Rupini is studying for a Masters in Aesthetic Dentistry at King’s College, London, while also pursuing a modular programme to become an associate of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons. Her dedication to further studies is matched by her dedication to helping her patients.
As with all dentists at Method Dental, she has a way with kids and anxious patients and her calm and soothing demeanour makes patients feel relaxed. This, combined with her focus on preventative dentistry, helps to ensure comfortable appointments for her patients whilst reducing the need for more complex dentistry in the future.
She is an affiliate member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, Australian Dental Association, and formerly a member of New Zealand Dental Association and New Zealand society for Anaesthesia and Sedation in Dentistry. Rupini is an Invisalign provider.
Giving back to the community is important to Rupini’s values and over the last decade she has been volunteering in rural Fiji at medical camps. She also loves the outdoors, running and traveling with her family.
Dr. Sharon Chen graduated from the University of Queensland with first class honours in 2020 and worked in regional Queensland before joining the team at Method Dental. She grew up in Sydney and moved up to the Sunshine State 8 years ago and is loving it here!
What always inspired Sharon about dentistry was how she is able to help people every day. With her gentle and conscientious nature, she makes visits to the dentist not only comfortable, but enjoyable. Kids and adults alike love visiting Dr. Sharon and as with all of our team at Method Dental, she loves getting to know her patients beyond their teeth.
Sharon finds dentistry most fulfilling when she helps patients to not only enjoy their food through having healthy teeth, but to smile confidently. Preventative dentistry is a strong focus and she has completed numerous continuing education courses to hone her skills in restorative and cosmetic dentistry.
Outside of dentistry, Sharon enjoys trying out new cooking and baking recipes, pilates or enjoying the outdoors!

Dr. Justin Ooi studied dentistry at the University of Queensland and actually met Dr. Grant while studying! He graduated with first class honours in 2010 and he was welcomed with open arms into the Method Dental family, in part because he is already family! Justin is Jasmine’s brother and Grant’s brother-in-law and he has been the perfect addition to our team.
When it comes to modern dental care, Justin believes that trust is always earned. His empathetic manner and ability to slow down and understand the issues our patients face, helps to break down the barrier that stands between an anxious patient and the dental care they require.
He works hard to make lasting impressions on children during their dental visits to ensure that they have a healthy relationship with oral health and dentistry as they grow up. One of the greatest rewards of the job is seeing his patients, both children and adults, gradually forget their fear of the dentist. In addition to general and children’s dentistry, Justin also has special interests in dental implants and aesthetic dentistry.
Justin also speaks more than five languages (English, Chinese, Malay, French, Spanish and a little bit of Italian) which means being able to communicate with and help more members of the community! When not drawing or engaging in photography, he is most likely busying himself cooking everything from scratch or potentially learning more languages.
Dr. Grant McGrath grew up in Grange, went to St. Columba’s Primary School at Wilston and has played for Grange Thistle Football Club! Grant and his wife, Jasmine, live in the area and his memories of growing up in Grange were always going to bring him back so that he can serve this community.
Grant graduated from the University of Queensland in 2009 with his Bachelor of Dental Science and believed he would be able to not only fix teeth and gums, but that he would be able help to prevent oral health problems in the first place.
After 8 years of working in various private dental practices, he realised that he was fixing plenty of teeth, but not solving the problems that he thought he would. So, Jasmine and Grant established Method Dental to not only provide dental care but to prevent developing dental problems by increasing the awareness about oral health and prevention strategies.
In the 8 years since Method Dental was established, there has been lots of change and growth – both of the practice and his family! Dr. Grant and Jasmine now have two great little boys and his family, patients and mentoring keep him very busy!
Dr. Grant is also a skilled clinician, providing high quality restorative and cosmetic dental services – but really, dentistry is and always has been about more than just teeth to him.
Grant visits local schools and kindergartens to educate the kids about oral health, he is passionate about producing videos, blogs and anything that helps people and he’s on a mission to change the way that we view dentistry and oral health.

Jasmine is Co-founder of Method Dental, along with Grant, as well as a receptionist and (occasional) Practice Manager.
She has worked as a pharmacist at various pharmacies across Brisbane and Toowoomba since graduating in 2011 from the University of Queensland. As a pharmacist, Jasmine was able to help a lot of people with their health but the environment at Method Dental offers the chance to affect very personal and meaningful changes.
Jasmine completed her Certificate IV in Practice Management in 2017 and has embraced her role in both managing the clinic and in welcoming and calming our patients! She has taken a step back as she takes care of her two young boys, but always loves seeing everyone when she’s here!
The best part of her job is getting to know and learning all about our awesome patients, playing with the kiddies at the kids corner and making everyone feel warm and welcomed.
